Arkham Horror Session - Glaaki & Ghroth

It was Glaaki and Ghroth vs the Bounty Hunter, the Soldier, the Shaman, and the Gravedigger. I was playing with Innsmouth, Kingsport, and Dunwich so I knew from the beginning I know that I wouldn't have much time to get my six seals. I suspected that I would only have around 9 turn because I expected a gate to open almost every turn. That turned out to be about right, I managed to last 10 turns before Glaaki finally woke up.

It started fairly well. My first gate with a Gate Burst so I was able to get an extra clue from the get go. I was fairly confident that I would manage to get at least 4 seals up before I lost. However the Arkham Horror plotted against me. I managed to have investigators Lost in Time and Space three times (The Soldier twice) and I must have gotten at least a half a dozen Delayed encounters (But never for the Solder).

By the time Glaaki had woken up I had managed to seal a grand total of one gate. The Terrible Experiment had six monsters on it, but in the end that didn't really matter. Ghroth actually managed to turn out beneficial because the Terror Track was still only at one when Glaaki woke up (I got the spell Servant and only one caster so it wasn't a problem).

Because of that I was able to have all of my investigators gang up on Glaaki and even though I used the Epic Battle cards I still managed to beat Glaaki with several turns to spare. It helped that I had a couple of good allies that provided bonuses to combat and fight checks and that I used all my clue tokens at the beginning on the combat to prevent the Servants of Glaaki from discarding them. I also have a couple exhaust for +6 weapons that helped big time (plus a couple less useful items which I discarded instead of my good items).

All in all I managed to win a game of Arkham Horror that I had initially though was going to be impossible. Or at least survived, a lot of people think that winning the final battle only counts as a tie. I normally agree with them but using all the boards and a herald makes me think I won this one.
