Much like how people hack Spirit of the Century and call it Spirit of the _______, I am planning on hacking The Dresden Files and calling it The Monster Files. I've been really excited about the Dresden Files RPG and I am already planning what I want to do with it when it is released.
Here is what I currently have decided about The Monster Files.
World Building
I still don't know most of the city creation rules however one of the things I plan on doing for my game is to not only create the city but to also decided how the world works.
Tears of Inixia
The Tears of Inixia are humans with special powers. They are capable of stopping the monsters that hide amoung the humans. However, what it means to be a Tear of Inixia is up to the players to decided during World Building.
Things that are True about Tears of Inixia
A Tear of Inixia can not be a monster.
Most of the players should be Tears of Inixia.
Monsters
Like the game name suggests Monsters are going to be an important part of the story. They are generally going to be the bad guys, however not much else is determined about them. The players are going to decided what is means to be a monster during World Building.
Things that are True about Monsters
Monsters are capable of disguising themselves as humans.
Individually a Monster is usually more powerful then a Tear of Inixia.
A maximum of one player can decide to play a monster.
The Monster Files
The Monster Files is a prop in the game. It is a notebook full on information about the city, monsters, and Tears of Inixia. The players are encourages to write things in the book as they discover them. They are also going to be encouraged to write journal entries to get put in the Files.
The Monster Files is created during World Building and everything that was decided in World Building is written down in the Files for future reference.
Things that are True about The Monster Files
Anything that is underlined in the Files is an Aspect.
Adding things to the Monster Files will earn players extra FATE points, and potentially advancements.
